We are now looking for summer substitute caregivers for the forensic psychiatric examination unit in Stockholm, located at Helix, near Huddinge Hospital.

Your mission

As a caregiver, you will work with care, security, documentation, and observation at a residence unit for detained individuals. You will also participate in improvement and development work, perform standard psychiatric/somatic care, and carry out other daily tasks at the unit.

Qualifications

  • You have a nursing education or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent.

Desirable

  • It is an advantage if you have experience working in forensic psychiatric care, psychiatric care, or in corrections.

Personal qualities and abilities

You have the ability to collaborate with others and meet them in a responsive manner; you need to be stable and able to handle stressful situations at times. You are also engaged and responsible in your work and act in accordance with decisions made and guidelines.

The work requires you to make correct assessments and priorities and to plan and organize your work effectively. You have the ability to view issues from an ethical perspective and express yourself well in Swedish in both speech and writing. The tasks also require you to have good physical fitness.

Due to the nature of the work, great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities.

Employment

Fixed-term employment during the period from June to August 2026.

Placement at the forensic psychiatric examination unit in Stockholm.

The National Board of Forensic Medicine applies individual salary setting.

The work involves shift work, daytime, evenings, nights, and weekends.

The NBFM is part of the judicial chain, and we place high demands on employees' judgment and security thinking as well as respect for law and order. As a representative of the National Board of Forensic Medicine, you follow the state value framework and contribute through your actions to legal security, trust, and confidence in the authority.

We conduct a background check by reviewing criminal records prior to employment. The NBFM applies a competency-based recruitment process that may include psychological tests, knowledge tests, or work samples. Prior to the employment of licensed health care personnel, checks are performed with the National Board of Health and Welfare and the Health and Social Care Inspectorate.

In this recruitment, we are looking for several employees.

The National Board of Forensic Medicine has received two new assignments – to conduct risk assessments on behalf of the Prison and Probation Service regarding conditional release and to conduct special risk investigations regarding security sentences on behalf of the court. The operations are in a phase of change, and new employees are being recruited.

The Department of Forensic Psychiatry investigates on behalf of the court whether a person suspected of a crime committed it under the influence of a serious mental disorder. We also conduct risk assessments when life-sentenced individuals apply for a fixed-term sentence. The Department of Forensic Psychiatry consists of two forensic psychiatric examination units located in Stockholm and Gothenburg, as well as a coordination unit located at the headquarters in Stockholm.
